Dating a ta
Coupled with our developing passions for what we study, an encounter with someone with a depth of knowledge in our field can be incredibly alluring.Yes, professors can be hot because they’re intelligent, accomplished, published, and passionate.TAs and have always hooked up, irrespective of whether they're allowed to or not.And when the people involved in said hookups are all consenting adults, and particularly consenting adults of roughly the same age, is it really the place of some academic administrator (or some internet agony aunt, for that matter) to shake a finger at them and tell them not to? Not that I don't have my own ideas about how I'd answer that question, personally, but my answer isn't the point.I'm a junior in college and I've recently acquired a crush on one of my chemistry lab TAs. Crushes in themselves aren't inappropriate, but acting on them sometimes can be. I am interested in him and would like to get to know him better.I know that TAs are different at every university and some have graduate student TAs. But, again, he's my TA and I don't know how to flirt with him given that we are in lab full of other people and I'm always by my lab partner. And the good news, my darling Sparkler, is that there's nothing wrong with that.“He was nice to me even though I think he knew I was flirting.
I am currently a student (grad, not college, if that makes any difference) and I have a crush on my TA.
I’d really like to ask him out, but I haven’t had any interactions with him outside of class, and am running out of reasons to go to his office hours.
I’m also unlikely to see him again after I finish the class, because he’s graduating soon.
Unlike a professor’s lecture, a TA’s recitation involves discussion and gradual acquaintanceship.
All of this makes them much more likely candidates for dating and relationships.
